Coon Rapids Armed Robbery Suspect In Custody After Manhunt
COON RAPIDS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A man is in police custody after officers say he robbed a restaurant in Coon Rapids Saturday afternoon.
Police say the 38-year-old suspect entered the Subway restaurant on Round Lake Boulevard just before 4 p.m. Saturday and confronted employees with a knife. He then took an undetermined amount of money and fled the scene on foot, while one of the employees called police.
Officers from the Coon Rapids Police Department, Anoka Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Anoka County Sheriff's Office spent a few hours searching the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Natural area using K-9 units before locating and arresting the suspect about a mile from the restaurant.
Police are also investigating whether the suspect is responsible for several other robberies in Coon Rapids and Blaine.
