Coon Rapids Man Pleads Guilty To Stealing U Prosthetics
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Coon Rapids man has pleaded guilty to stealing prosthetics and other medical supplies from the hospital where he worked and selling them online.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 52-year-old Peter Stasica pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of wire fraud.
Stasica used to manage the prosthetics department at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview. In his plea agreement, Stasica admitted that over a six-month period in 2011 he stole prosthetics and related supplies to sell on eBay.
Stasica also admitted he used false pretenses to try to persuade patients to give him prosthetics they weren't using.
Stasica faces up to 20 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
