Condoms Push Wildlife Preservation While Getting Wild
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- More than 4,000 condoms are being delivered to the country's "most romantic" cities in an attempt to raise awareness of the world's endangered species.
Recently, USA Today called St. Paul, Minn. the most romantic getaway in the United States, with the runners up including Savannah, Ga.; Charleston, S.C.; New Orleans; Naples, Fla.; and Honolulu.
The Center for Biological Diversity announced its intention to distribute condoms to these cities in time for Valentine's Day.
"Valentine's Day is the perfect time to spread a message of love by speaking out about human population growth and endangered species protection," Taralynn Reynolds, population and sustainability organizer at the Center, said. "They're also a fun way to get people talking about how our growing human population — which now tops 7 billion — isn't leaving much room for other species."
The condoms feature pictures of animals like polar bears, leatherback turtles and dwarf seahorses.
