Concussions On Agenda At Prep Hockey Tournament
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- As the Minnesota boys' high school hockey tournament moves into its final day, concussions will be on the agenda between sessions.
The Be Hockey Safe panel, a team of professionals focused on safety issues, meets Saturday at the St. Paul RiverCentre. The discussion will focus on head safety and concussion management in hockey players.
Craig Perry, associate director of the Minnesota State High School League, says it's an opportunity for coaches, parents and players to learn more about head safety and injury prevention.
In addition to Perry, members of Be Hockey Safe also include representatives from Bauer Hockey, USA Hockey and Hockey Canada as well as leaders in medical and athletic training. The panel will examine current safety standards and guidelines and recommend enhancements.
