Amended Complaint: Searchers For Kira Found Bloody Pillow, Shirt & Bra
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- New details came out Friday about the St. Paul woman whose husband was charged with murder after she went missing last month.
Kira Trevino disappeared in February. Her husband, Jeffery Trevino, was then charged with murder after a large amount of blood was found in their home.
Kira's body, however, has yet to be found.
Earlier this week, authorities searched Keller Lake in Maplewood. On Friday, an amended complaint was filed, showing that witnesses told police they saw two men on Feb. 22 struggling to carry something onto the lake which appeared to be the size of a person. The lake, it should be noted, is less than two miles from the Trevino home in St. Paul.
Trevino family and friends searched the lake after hearing this information. Their search produced a bag containing a bloody pillow and pillowcase, a bra, shirt and a sponge.
The DNA on those items matched that of Kira Trevino.
Police then brought dogs trained to seek bodies to the lake, and the dogs reacted when a hole was cut in the ice. The reaction could mean there is a body in the lake, the complaint said.
Charges:
Jeffery Trevino faces two counts of second degree murder. If convicted, each count carries a minimum sentence of 40 years in prison.
