Complaint: Drunk Man Appears In Burnsville Home, Breaks Toilet
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A drunk 20-year-old man found his way into a Burnsville homeowner's bathroom Tuesday night and kicked the toilet bowl, breaking the tank and causing nearly $2,000 in damages, court documents say.
The homeowner had convinced Terry Edward Bergan to leave his home, but once outside he just started pounding on the door. When police found him, a criminal complaint says, he was still banging on the door, and police arrested him.
Police say Bergan told them that he knew this house, located on Oliver Avenue South, wasn't his, but he couldn't explain why he was there.
A portable breath test showed Bergan had a blood-alcohol value of.170, the complaint said.
The homeowner told police he found Bergan in his bathroom, where he broke the toilet tank, causing water to spill all over and seep into the walls and down into the basement.
The estimated cost of the damage to the toilet and drywall is $1,800.
The homeowner told police he had no idea who Bergan was or why he was in his house.
Bergan is charged with one count of first-degree burglary.
