Complaint: Drunk Driver Refuses Sobriety Tests, Says 'I'm Going To Jail'
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – "I'm going to jail, I love you."
Those are the words a Minneapolis man reportedly said to a female passenger last week before he was arrested for driving under the influence in Inver Grove Heights.
Jumoke Ace Maceo Cryer, 29, faces with one count of driving while impaired, according to charges filed in Dakota County. Cryer has three prior DWI convictions in the last 10 years.
A police officer stopped Cryer last Thursday after catching him texting behind the wheel on Mendota Road, a criminal complaint states.
After pulling him over, the officer found that Cryer's speech was slurred, his eyes were watery and bloodshot, and the car smelled of alcohol.
The officer also found a male passenger lying down in Cryer's backseat and a female passenger up front.
Cryer was asked to show his license, but said his was canceled, the complaint states.
When he was asked to get out of the car, Cryer leaned over to the female passenger, kissed her and said the words written above.
He refused field sobriety tests, the complaint states, and told the officer to take him to jail. There, he refused to take a breath test.
If convicted of the DWI charge, Cryer faces a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine.
