Como Zoo To Introduce Baby Giraffe
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A week after its birth, a baby giraffe will make its debut at the Como Zoo.
The zoo says the baby female giraffe was born 5-feet-8-inches tall and 130 pounds last Sunday. She is the fifth calf born to mom, Clover, and is the 17th giraffe birth at the zoo in the last 20 years.
The current herd at the zoo consists of Clover, Daisy, Skeeter (the baby's father) and the baby giraffe, who is yet to be named.
Giraffes are the tallest of all land-living species and can be as tall as 18 feet. In their first two years of life, they double in height and can be over 12-feet-tall.
