Little Falls Students Help Kids Adjust To Middle School
LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (WCCO) -- Anyone who's been through school knows: The transitions from grade school to middle school then high school can be tough.
With that in mind, the students at Little Falls Middle School set out to help. They started the "Where Everybody Belongs" program a few years ago. It's "WEB" for short.
Eighth grade students help sixth grade students get used to middle school. They've also organized school dances to buy Thanksgiving dinners for low-income families.
All that is deserving of our Community Spotlight award and the $500 check that goes with it.
"It's really great to see the eighth graders just bond with the sixth graders. They were there at one point in their life. They know what it felt like, and students helping other students learn and succeed is the best way to approach any situation," said Erin Nordmark, the co-coordinator of the WEB Program.
"It's been a really good feeling to know that I've been, like, helping the students that were once in my place and helping them feel good about coming back to school every day," said Little Falls Eighth Grader Hannah Veillette.
