Cobb, Wilson Talk Gophers Football On Rosen's Sports Sunday
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – There's a buzz around the University of Minnesota campus and for the first time in a very long time, it's surrounding the Gophers football program.
Minnesota, in Jerry Kill's fourth season, is head to its first New Year's Day bowl game in five decades as the Gophers will face Missouri in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. The game will be at noon on national television.
The Gophers finished 8-4 in the regular season with marquee wins at Michigan, at Nebraska and against Iowa. They got their with a balanced rushing attack and solid defense.
David Cobb led Minnesota in rushing with more than 128 yards per game and 13 touchdowns. The defense was led by Damien Wilson, one of the top tacklers in the Big Ten. He had 111 tackles in 12 games, including 10.5 for a loss and four sacks.
