Clinton To Headline Dayton Fundraiser In New York
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Democrat Mark Dayton is calling in the heavy hitters to help him raise money for his expenses in the Minnesota governor's recount.
Dayton says Thursday that he will travel to New York on Dec. 13 for a fundraiser at the apartment of financier George Soros. The event will be headlined by former President Bill Clinton. Dayton says he also has tentatively scheduled a fundraiser that week to be hosted by the Democratic leaders of the U.S. Senate.
Four days into the statewide recount, Dayton says he believes his lead has grown to 9,000 votes over Republican Tom Emmer. Dayton describes himself as "confident" that he will come out on top.
He and Emmer were at a state building Thursday being briefed on Minnesota's budget picture.
