Civil War Graves To Be Rededicated In Minnesota
LE SUEUR, Minn. (AP) — The graves of three Minnesotans killed during the Civil War will be re-dedicated this weekend.
In St. Peter, a new grave marker will be dedicated to Capt. Asgrim Skaro of the Ninth Minnesota Infantry Company D.
Skaro was killed while leading a charge at the Battle of Nashville in Tennessee on Dec. 16, 1864.
Two other soldiers from south-central Minnesota killed in that battle also will be honored Saturday.
Lt. John Roberts of Blue Earth County and Cpl. Henry Vasterling of Le Sueur (leh soor) County died in the charge on Shy's Hill.
The ceremonies are part of events honoring the participation of all Minnesota Civil War soldiers 150 years ago.
