Child, 2, Among Stabbing Victims In Rochester
ROCHESTER, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -- A 2-year-old child was among three people reportedly stabbed by an intruder in Rochester, Minn. Thursday.
Police said that a man armed with knife broke into a home at about 6 a.m. while the occupants were sleeping.
A woman in the home was awakened by a noise and found the intruder in the toddler's bedroom. Her brother and a male guest confronted and fought with the intruder.
When police arrived, the male suspect jumped out of the window and ran. Officers chased the man and made an arrest.
Police said the 2-year-old boy was stabbed in the torso. Authorities said his injuries were serious.
The man they arrested was also taken to the hospital with injuries he got from a police dog.
Capt. Brian Winters said it appears the intruder and victims knew each other.
There was another 4-year-old child in the home who wasn't hurt.
Winters says one victim was stabbed in the abdomen.
