Check Out Winter Carnival Snow Sculpture Winners
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- There was chilling competition this weekend at the 2011 St. Paul Winter Carnival Snow Sculpting Competition at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
The judges looked at each sculpture and weighed degree of difficulty, execution (clean lines, proportions and overall completion) and artistic expression to pick this year's winners. And here they are:
First Place and Artist's Choice Award Winner: "Hot Tub Time Machine" by Dusty Thune, Dave Thune and Chelsea Olson -- all of Saint Paul. First place receives $1,000 cash and qualification to compete in the National Snow Sculpting Competition next year in Lake Geneva, Wis.
Second Place: "Tom Sawyer" by Bob Baller, Mike Baller and Gordy Robertson.
Third Place: "At The Bird Feeder" by Jonathan Baller, Curtis Cook and Joseph Hauwiller.
People's Choice: "Early Morning Chores" by Jim Krueger, Tim Trost and Jared Trost.
Vulcan's Choice: "Goyle, The Vulcan Gatekeeper" by Mike Beigle, Suzanne Beigle and Noelle Beigle.
The snow sculptures will remain up for the rest of the St. Paul Winter Carnival for everyone to see at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Just enter the Fairgrounds at Dan Patch & Snelling where parking and attendance is free.
