Charges: Woman Stole Thousands From Target Stores
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 29-year-old Braham woman is accused of stealing nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from several Target stores over the span of a month, according to charges filed Friday in Anoka County Court.
Leslie Jean Foyt was charged with one felony count of theft in connection with the incidents. She could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
According to the charges, a Target employee in their loss protection department learned that Foyt had stolen items from four different stores from Dec. 15, 2011, to Jan. 17, valued at nearly $2,000.
Foyt was captured by surveillance video on Dec. 15 stealing a Nintendo DS from the Lino Lakes Target. The video game system was valued at $243.97, according to the complaint.
Foyt was observed stealing a camera and a DVD player on Jan. 13 valued at more than $400 from the Target in Fridley.
On Jan. 15, Foyt was observed stealing a camera, headphones and a memory card from the Target in Cambridge. The items were valued at $676.96.
Finally on Jan. 17, Foyt was seen leaving the Target in Forest Lake after stealing multiple cameras, valued at about $600, the complaint states.
Foyt later admitted to police that she stole all the items from the Target stores. She said she had a problem with taking merchandise without paying for it. She said her husband would drive her to the Target stores and was aware of the thefts but didn't have a part in the actual thefts. Foyt also told police she sold the stolen property for money to live on, according to the complaint.
