Charges: Woman Drove Drunk With Baby In Car
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 30-year-old Brooklyn Center woman is accused of driving drunk with a baby in the back seat, according to charges filed in Hennepin County District Court on Tuesday.
Jennifer Marie Gray was charged with two counts of second-degree DWI, driving with a suspended license and DUI after driver's license restrictions pertaining to alcohol.
According to a criminal complaint, at about 11:23 p.m. Saturday, Gray was driving on Interstate 394 in Golden Valley and eventually heading northbound on Highway 100. In the process, she came off a ramp too fast and into the lane where a state trooper was driving. She corrected the vehicle and exited north on Highway 100 and was speeding.
She was pulled over, and an officer noticed the driver and a 10-month-old child in the backseat. Gray told the officer the vehicle was owned by a friend of hers and wasn't insured. She also told the officer she had consumed two Long Island iced teas prior to driving, and a preliminary breath test showed she had a blood alcohol content of .228, more than twice the legal limit for driving.
Gray was arrested, and while at the Hennepin County Jail, a breath test there revealed an alcohol concentration of .19, still more than twice the legal limit.
A review of her driving record showed that Gray has at least three prior offenses for drunk driving.
