Charges: Woman Steals From Brooklyn Center Nursing Home
BROOKLYN CENTER (WCCO) -- A Minneapolis woman has been accused of burglarizing a Brooklyn Center nursing home in early November, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.
Shawnyell Denelle Younger, 26, now faces one felony count of first-degree burglary.
According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 2, police officers responded to a suspicious persons report at an apartment complex – a senior living facility – located at 6100 Summit Drive in Brooklyn Park.
Upon arrival, officers were informed by an elderly female victim that a woman wearing some sort of headwear had interrupted in her apartment. The victim said she was startled by the woman in her apartment and that the woman had "slithered" on her belly in her attempt to flee the apartment, the complaint said.
Officers soon arrested Younger, who matched the description given by the victim. Police found cash, a cell phone and other items stuffed into her clothing and pockets. When she was taken back to the apartment, the victim positively identified her as the burglary suspect.
Later, Younger gave a full confession to the burglary, the complaint said.
If convicted, she could face six months to 20 years in prison and/or a maximum fine of $35,000.
