Charges: Woman Angry At Boyfriend Sets Trailer Home On Fire
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 43-year-old Fridley woman is accused of arson in connection with a fire at a mobile home early Sunday morning.
Jennifer Robyn Beck has been charged with two counts of first-degree arson in connection with the incident.
According to the charges, the Fridley Police Department was called just before 5 a.m. Sunday to a disturbance at a trailer home at 1067 North Circle. When officers arrived, both Beck and her boyfriend were extremely intoxicated, police said.
The complaint states Beck told officers that a man struck her in the face, then left the residence. She told police she didn't want to press charges against the suspect, who police determined had left the area. Beck then became extremely angry with officers and screamed profanity at them as they left the residence. It was at that time they saw the residence on fire.
According to the complaint, Beck became angry with her boyfriend for not defending her quickly enough when the man assaulted her. She told him he "would not make it through the night." She then woke her boyfriend up and told him the house was on fire. He tried to put it out, but was unsuccessful and ran out the door.
The trailer was engulfed in flames quickly and destroyed. There was also damage to several nearby trailer homes, according to the complaint.
Beck later admitted to police that she set the curtains in the home on fire because she was mad at her boyfriend, the complaint states.
If convicted, Beck faces up to 40 years in prison and $65,000 in fines.
