Charges: Mom Left 3-Month-Old Alone At Hotel To Party
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 21-year-old woman is charged with child neglect and endangerment after allegedly leaving her 3-month-old alone at a hotel to party.
The criminal complaint says Shalea Marie Teich was seen by multiple people at an event at the South St. Paul hotel, repeatedly wandering in even though she hadn't been invited.
A number of people noted that she was visibly intoxicated.
There was also a 4-year-old who, according to the charges, people had to lead back to Teich multiple times.
A group of teenagers at the hotel say they also saw Teich in the lobby and offered to take her back to her hotel room. The complaint says she offered them cigarettes and alcohol if they'd watch her children in her hotel room while she partied elsewhere.
They declined but took her to her room, where they found the 3-month-old alone. Teich left, the complaint says. One of the teens changed the baby's diaper before taking the child back to the lobby to get help.
If convicted, Teich faces up to a year in prison for each count of child neglect and child endangerment.
