Charges: Man Raped Girl, 16, Multiple Times In One Day
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 22-year-old man from Nowthen is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl multiple times over the course of one day, according to charges filed Tuesday in Anoka County Court.
Kelly Eugene Jenkins was charged by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office with three felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the incident, which happened Aug. 13.
According to the charges, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office received a report on Aug. 14 from the victim that she had been sexually assaulted. She told authorities she was with Jenkins that day and had spent time in Elk River and Zimmerman. In the early-morning hours of Aug. 14, Jenkins left the victim at a residence in Zimmerman, then at about 5 a.m., called her to see if she needed a ride home.
Jenkins then picked her up and proceeded to drive the victim towards her Oak Grove home, but drove around a lot and was yelling at her during the trip. He eventually told her to get out of his truck, prompting her to try and stop vehicles on the road to get a ride home, the complaint states.
According to the complaint, Jenkins eventually had the victim get back into his truck and she thought he was taking her home, but he continued to yell at her and drive around recklessly. He eventually pulled into a cul-de-sac near 206th Avenue in Oak Grove, grabbed the girl and threw her to the ground. He dragged her into a bus shelter and demanded that she stare at a dot on a wood wall inside the shelter because she disrespected him.
The complaint states he then slapped her on the buttocks, she started crying and demanding to go home. He said he would bring her home if she had sex with him. She said no, and he proceeded to sexually assault her.
According to the complaint, she tried to yell for help but Jenkins covered her mouth and he threatened to snap her neck. Jenkins then sexually assaulted the victim in multiple instances before driving her home and leaving her on the side of the road.
The victim gave police the license plate number on his truck, and he was taken into custody last Thursday. If convicted on all charges, Jenkins faces up to 45 years in prison and $90,000 in fines.
