Charges: Man Claiming To Be Navy Seal Assaults Man In Burnsville Bar
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 27-year-old Burnsville man allegedly assaulted a bar patron for not believing he was a Navy Seal sniper, according to charges filed in Dakota County.
On Oct. 11 at around 9:43 p.m., police responded to a bar on Cliff Road East in Burnsville on the report of an intoxicated person trying to leave the bar.
When police arrived, they were told by the bar manager that the Leo John Clark III had cut another bar patron with a knife. The victim, who said he didn't know Clark, reported that Clark and he started a conversation about Navy Seals and Clark indicated that he was a Navy Seal and a sniper, the complaint said.
At some point, Clark allegedly accused the victim of not believing him, grabbed a steak knife off the bar and held it to the victim's throat. The victim then tried to push the knife away and step back to get away from Clark. Clark then put the knife down on the bar, the complaint said.
During the altercation, the victim's hand was cut as he tried pushing the knife away.
The entire incident was caught on the bar's video surveillance.
Clark faces one felony count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine.
