Charges Filed In Minneapolis Stabbing
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 23-year-old man has been charged in the Sunday morning stabbing death of Dean Schmitz.
Chrishaun Reed McDonald has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly stabbing Schmitz, 47, with a pair of scissors at the intersection of 29th Street East and 27th Avenue South in Minneapolis.
Police say the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. After police arrived, they found Schmitz with an apparent stab wound to the chest. Emergency crews tried to save him, but Schmitz died at the scene.
Police learned the stabbing had taken place after a fight involving two groups. McDonald was taken into custody shortly after.
McDonald is currently being held at the Hennepin County Jail. Police say for investigative reasons, his mug shot is not available.
McDonald told police he pulled out the scissors to scare Schmitz, and Schmitz ran into them.
