Charges Filed In Burnsville Homicide, Missing U Student Case
HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) -- Palagor Jobi's friends were in a Dakota County courtroom Thursday to see up close the man now charged with killing him.
Jobi was shot multiple times early Sunday morning, following an argument touched off when he was seen speaking to Shavelle Chavez-Nelson's girlfriend, Ashley Conrade, in the parking lot of Nina's Grill.
"[Chavez-Nelson] got jealous, and...that's all she wrote," said Henry Johnson, Jobi's friend.
Surveillance cameras outside the bar confirm what eyewitnesses told investigators: that Chavez-Nelson pulled out a pistol after a brief scuffle.
Jobi was shot eight times and died in the parking lot.
Anarae Schunk, a University of Minnesota sophomore who is currently missing, fled the scene with the two defendants in a 1983 Buick Lesabre. Burnsville police located that car Wednesday evening but say it provides no clues as to what happened to the 20-year-old student.
Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said that after the shooting, Conrade and Chavez-Nelson went to Conrade's Rosemount townhouse, where the two stayed until Chavez-Nelson's arrest.
But Schunk wasn't with them when they were arrested on Tuesday afternoon. She's been missing ever since the three fled the shooting, and she hasn't accessed her cell phone or social media.
"Neither Ms. Conrade or Nelson have given police any information about the whereabouts of Anarae Schunk at this time," Backstrom said.
Burnsville and Rosemount police have searched both rural and residential areas without luck. Now, missing persons posters are popping up in areas frequented by Schunk.
Moreover, a $5,000 reward is being offered for information on Schunk's whereabouts.
Without help from the two defendants behind bars, finding Schunk continues to be a troubling mystery.

Chavez-Nelson's next court date is slated for Oct. 10. His bail has been set at $2 million.
