Charges: Care Provider Stole Drugs From Patients
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 54-year-old woman who previously worked at an assisted living facility in Burnsville pleaded guilty to taking narcotics from patients on Tuesday in St. Paul Federal Court.
Margaret Alice Mammen was charged April 12 with one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
According to a criminal complaint, Mamman worked as a care provider at a Burnsville facility. In her plea agreement, she admitted to stealing Oxycontin from patients from Sept. 22 through Oct. 8 of 2009. She would use the drug and replace it in the patient's room with Ibuprofen.
Mammen faces up to four years in prison as a result of the charges. She will be sentenced at a later hearing.
