Suspect arrested in Chanhassen after shooting at squad car during chase, police say
CHANHASSEN, Minn. — A police chase turned into a standoff that lasted until almost midnight in the west metro.
According to the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department, officers began pursuing a motorist in a black SUV after the vehicle came back with a warrant out of Illinois for assault.
During the pursuit, shots were allegedly fired from the suspect vehicle at a squad car. Shots were also fired by officers during the incident, according to SLMPD.
The suspect vehicle crashed in Chanhassen south of Highway 5 near Highway 41 a short time later, police say.

Heavily armed SWAT officers used their squads as cover while negotiating with that driver for hours.
A woman was eventually taken into custody without incident. She was treated for minor injuries before being booked at the Carver County jail.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident.
