Chanhassen Teacher Celebrates Liver Donor Who Saved Her Life
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Chanhassen science teacher credits a stranger, who's also a National Guardsman, with her second chance at life.
Desperate for a liver transplant in 2014, Cindy Peterson turned to Facebook asking for people to share her plea for help. Chad McNeish saw the note and decided to help a woman he had never met.
"I am happy to have him in my life, and happy to have a life," Cindy said. "A truly humbling experience."
Chad has been in the National Guard for 21 years. One year ago, he went under the knife to help Cindy.
On Thursday they celebrated the anniversary with a cake, in the shape of a liver, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Cindy says she and the transplant are both doing very well.
