'CCO Viewers Give Adaptive Bike To Girl With Paraplegia
NORTH BRANCH, Minn. (WCCO) - With some help from WCCO viewers, one little girl's life has been changed for the better.
Seven-year-old Olivia Levoir from North Branch received a special hand-pedal bike Saturday.
She has paraplegia and cannot operate a typical bike. Her mother, Danyelle Levoir, said Olivia's condition has kept her from being a typical kid during the warmer months.
"For the past couple of summers, it's been really hard seeing her watch the other kids in the neighborhood be on bikes, knowing she can't be on a bike," Levoir said. "Now she can be one of the other kids."
Her new bike costs $4,000, but Mary and Kevin Grinnell donated the money to pay for it.
"We both feel that we have a lot of blessings, and they're not as good if you keep them to yourself," Kevin Grinnell said. "Sharing is very important to us."
The pedal bike should help Olivia increase her strength and endurance, and help her stay healthy.
