Study: Cats Seek Human Contact Before Food After Being Deprived Of Both
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Do you feel like your cat only loves you when you fill up her dish with food? Well you're wrong!
Oregon State researchers took 50 cats from shelters and homes and deprived them of food, toys and human contact for a few hours. After this separation, the cats were presented with human attention, food, scents and toys to see what they missed most.
Half wanted human attention over any of the other stimuli, food included. Only 37 percent of the cats chose food first.
