Catching Up With 2 Quarterbacks: Weber & Jackson
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- They are NFL quarterbacks with Minnesota ties: Adam Weber and Tarvaris Jackson.
Both have spent the summer working on their game, trying to make places for themselves.
Adam Weber
Weber learned on the job as a Gopher, a four year starter in the Big 10.
Now he's working out to gain an edge on an NFL roster as a member of the Denver Broncos, vying for the backup job with two other candidates.
"All three…we are competing for that number two spot," Weber said. "I know those two guys are working hard right now, getting themselves better so we can have a good competition in two days. And may the best guy…get the spot."
And Weber has recently got the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest in the game: Peyton Manning, who is the Bronco's starting quarterback.
Tarvaris Jackson
Jackson had his ups and downs with the Vikings. He lived the life of a rock star and the backup. He moved on to Seattle to assume a starting spot for the Seahawks.
"It's been fun," he said.
He is now a veteran of the league, but he's looking for the edge. That's why his summer months are spent with a daily dose of passing drills.
Two quarterbacks have now been brought in to compete for his job.
He understands the concept. It was a guy named Brett Favre who took his place before and taught him about the game in the process.
"You gotta learn this is really a business, you know, not just a game," he said.
