Carlton County Residents Urged To Remove Flood Waste From Homes
CARLTON, Minn. (WCCO) – Flood victims in Carlton County are being asked to remove and sort all flood-related and non-commercial waste in their homes.
The Carlton County Sherriff's Office urges the public to properly dispose of their waste for public health and safety reason.
Sites such as the Carlton County Transfer Station, the Shamrock Landfill and the Materials Recovery Center of the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District are all accepting storm-related waste.
Beginning Tuesday at noon, the Barnum County Shop and the Cromwell County Shop will also act as waste drop-off sites.
Once debris has been removed from homes, residents are encouraged to properly clean items and areas exposed to flood waters. Storm water and sewage backups have the potential of exposing people to disease-causing organisms.
