Car Talk Show Aims To Expand Reach After 22 Years
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — With Bostonians Tom and Ray Magliozzi walking away from their widely popular "Car Talk" NPR program after 35 years, the hosts of Sioux Falls-based "Under the Hood" wonders if it's their time.
For 22 years, parts expert Shannon Nordstrom, Russ "The Super Tech" Evans and radio veteran Chris Carter have boosted the call-in show's affiliates to 90 stations across the country.
The hosts mix humor and banter amid car questions, but they don't ever want comedy to overshadow solid advice.
As "Click and Clack" — the Magliozzi brothers' nicknames on the show — Evans thinks now could be the time for "Under the Hood" to grow even more.
