Canine Flu Outbreak Hits Midwest, But Not Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Midwest has become the epicenter of a canine flu outbreak.
While the virus has not appeared in Minnesota, it has been detected in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
There are 2 strains of the virus: H3N2 and H3N8. Both viruses can cause persistent cough, runny nose and fever in dogs.
Experts say a small percentage may develop more severe symptoms and some have even died.
