Cancer Survivor Grateful To Play Football For Bethel
ST. PAUL (WCCO) --On Saturday, Bethel University meets the University of St. Thomas in the Division III football quarterfinals.
Logan Flannery hopes it won't be his last game as a Bethel running back, but he's thankful he can play football at all.
Flannery was going into his senior year at Lakeville high school when he got the diagnosis.
"We figured out that the treatments and the chemotherapy was only going to go for about four months. And so, I was able to squeeze it in through summer," Flannery said. "Kinda got to be able to finish up that and go right into football. I had a great senior year."
He not only beat it, he kept playing, a starter since his freshman year.
His team will play in the elements Saturday, a signature of a successful program and a successful career.
The game Saturday starts at noon at St. Thomas. It will be broadcast on NewsRadio 830 WCCO.
