C-DH Football Player Teaches Value Of Education
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- The Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders brought back Tyler Hamblin at their Oct. 15 game against the Mustangs in Mounds View. He had been out for a couple of weeks with a concussion.
He's a high stand-out, but football is a just a part of what makes him so interesting.
Tyler Hamblin has had to sit out the past three games and watch his team. It reminded him of what was important.
"I love football just as much as my education, but I know my education comes first. So I got my concussion and that brought things back down to reality," said Hamblin.
It's a reality he embraced long ago. As a seventh grader he wrote his first book, "15 Ways To Get A's." His second book, "Putting Your A's To Work," will be released soon.
"The second book is putting your education to work. It's like a sequel to my first book. First you've got to know how to get the A's. Or get the good grades. Then you've got to know how to apply your education," said Hamblin.
You get the impression he's a step ahead, sure of where he wants to go.
"I want to go to Columbia for political science, then I'm going to go to law school. Then I don't know from there," said Hamblin. "I want to have my non-profit up and going pretty well where I can have people working under me, helping me out with it, helping as many kids as possible and have all my books out there."
