By Next Fall, Minneapolis Might Have A Cat Café
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Japan is known for its quirky cat cafes, and now a similar experience may be heading to Minneapolis.
The Star Tribune reports that three local women are looking to open a business called The Café Meow.
The idea is that it'd be a café with specialty coffee drinks where patrons can pay to hang out with cats, some of which will be up for adoption through local shelters.
Due to city regulations, the food and cats will have to be kept in separate spaces.
Danielle Rasmussen, one of the co-founders, told the newspaper that the café is looking to appeal to University of Minnesota students.
According to the café's website, the founders are currently looking for a location and hope to open next fall.
A crowdfunding campaign is expected to launch next month, the newspaper reports.
According to Eater.com, cat cafes have opened up in America on both coasts, as well as in Canada. A few others are planning to open in the Midwest.
