Buxton Leading Off For Twins Against White Sox Monday Night
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There will be a buzz yet again at Target Field Monday night as the Minnesota Twins host the Chicago White Sox in a series of American League Central Division rivals.
And the buzz, yet again, is surrounding prized prospect Byron Buxton. The 21-year-old has gotten off to a slow start, but the Twins are hoping moving him up in the batting order will change that.
Buxton will be the lead-off hitter, where he's been his whole minor league career, and play center field as the Twins face the White Sox. Buxton has been with the Twins for eight games and has just three hits in 25 at-bats. He also has one stolen base and has drawn two walks in the No. 9 slot.
The Twins are hoping that putting his speed on the bases earlier in games will translate to more runs and better offensive production. The Twins are 7-13 so far this month with eight games remaining.
They also enter Monday's game 3.5 behind the Kansas City Royals for first place in the AL Central.
