Burnsville Man Charged In Fatal Mpls. Drive-By Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Burnsville man faces murder charges in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting in south Minneapolis last February, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.
Reginald Myers, 34, was charged Monday with two counts of second-degree murder for a shooting that occurred on the afternoon of Feb. 23.
The main witness, who was with the victim during the shooting, says he had just driven the victim to his parked car on the 3400 block of Snelling Avenue South to grab some items.
As the victim entered the driver's side of his vehicle, a black car -– allegedly driven by co-defendant Shane Maurice McPike -- pulled up. Myers was in the passenger's seat, and allegedly fired six shots at the victim – striking him in the head.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two witnesses help police identify Myers and McPike, and further investigation revealed their cell phones had been used in the area at the time of the shooting.
McPike is still awaiting charges.
If convicted on both murder counts, Myers could face up to 80 years in prison.
