Brooklyn Park, Ham Lake Wedding Crasher Suspects Charged
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two men suspected of stealing checks, cash and gift cards from wedding receptions in the north metro have been charged with theft.
Derrick Duane Manson, 41, and Aaron Ray Martin, 40, both face one felony count of theft, according to documents filed in Anoka County. If convicted, the accused could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.
Manson and Martin are accused of snatching the gift box at a wedding reception at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake on July 20. According to a criminal complaint, the box contained a total of $7,455 in checks, cash and gift cards.
The suspects – and 30-year-old Sara Rose Lindstrom -- are then said to have used the gift cards later that night at the Andover Target store.
Surveillance video from both the Target store and the golf club captured the suspects.
Manson and Lindstrom were charged Friday with felony theft in connection with the July 6 incident in Brooklyn Park.
According to charges filed in that case, police were called July 7 to Edinburgh Country Club on a report of a theft. Authorities learned that a couple had gotten married there the day before, and their gift box was missing.
Police were told the box they had for money and gift cards had been stolen. Several guests told the family of the couple they saw a white man walking out with the box at the wedding. Manson was the man identified on surveillance video walking out with the box. He is shown on surveillance walking into the wedding with a woman later identified as Lindstrom.
According to the compliant, the two were at the wedding for less than 10 minutes before walking out with the box.
If convicted, they each face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The whereabouts of Mason and Martin remain unknown. If you know where they are, call the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at 763-427-1212 or the Brooklyn Park Police at 763-493-8222.
