Braham Senior Has Record Night In State Tournament Win
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Braham senior Rebekah Dahlman had a historic night Wednesday as her basketball team beat BOLD 79-42 in the Class AA State Quarterfinals.
The Bombers' guard scored 40 points on the night and surpassed 5,000 points for her career in Minnesota high school basketball. Dalhman is the only player in state history, boys or girls basketball, to reach 5,000 career points.
She shot 15-of-25 from the field on the night as well as 9-of-13 from the free-throw line.
With at least one game left, she'll finish second in the nation for girls in career scoring. A player from Texas scored 5,424 career points from 2003-06. The next highest Minnesotan is Katie Ohm, who scored 3,197 career points at Elgin-Millville. That's according to numbers from the National Federation of State High School Associations.
Dahlman, who will play basketball at Vanderbilt, came into the contest needing 37 points to get the milestone.
All Dahlman cares about is that Braham (31-0) is one step closer to a state championship. The Bombers will face Providence Academy at 6 p.m. Friday at Target Center, with the winner advancing to Saturday's state championship game.
