Boy, 16, Killed In Head-On Crash South Of Mankato
MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) – One person is dead and another suffered non-life threatening injuries after a head-on collision in Blue Earth County south of Mankato Friday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities responded the accident on Highway 22 near Maple Hill Road at about 7:50 a.m.
Matthew Cherney, 16 of Mankato, was driving a 1999 Plymouth Voyager in the southbound lane of Highway 22. A 67-year-old man from Mankato was driving a semitrailer truck in the northbound lane, and a head-on collision happened in the northbound lane, authorities said.
Cherney was killed in the accident. What exactly caused the accident remains under investigation at this time.
