Boom Truck Crashes Into Bridge, Cement Falls On Car
MINNETONKA (WCCO) -- A boom truck driver traveling on Interstate 494 struck a bridge with its boom Tuesday morning, causing cement chunks to fall and injure a trailing motorist, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Lt. Eric Roeske said that at approximately 9 a.m., the boom struck the bridge overpass at Highway 7 in Minnetonka. The boom truck driver told authorities he forgot to lower the boom after delivering a roll-off dumpster.
The motorist was treated for non-life threatening facial injuries and released from the Methodist Hospital, Roeske said.
The bridge overpass at Highway 7 was closed due to the accident until a Minnesota Department of Transportation inspector could come out and determine that the bridge was structurally sound.
