Bookstore Brings 'Where's Waldo?' To Life On Grand Ave.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A St. Paul book store is helping out local businesses through a pretty creative campaign.
We all remember the Where's Waldo books. Now you will have a chance this month to go find Waldo along Grand Avenue and support local business.
"We are always looking for ways to engage the community, to bring books to life," said Red Balloon Bookshop events coordinator Amy Oelkers.
The Find Waldo Local event encourages people of all ages to find the famous children's book character inside local shops along Grand Avenue.
"With this program it's also the great added benefit of promoting these wonderful locally owned businesses," Oelkers said.
The Find Waldo in St. Paul is just one of many happening all over the country.
"It's actually put together by the publisher of the 'Where's Waldo?' books -- Candlewick -- so we are one of I think 6,000 bookstores across the country doing a Find Waldo scavenger hunt," Oelkers said.
Altogether, Waldo is hiding inside 26 businesses on or near Grand Avenue, and whoever is able to find him in 20 of them by the end of the month will get the grand prize of "Where's waldo?" books.
Find Waldo only runs through the end of July, when the Red Balloon will host a "Where's Waldo?" celebration for the prize drawings, so you better start searching for the red and white stripes.
"It's such a beautiful area to go and walk around and really just have fun as a family and as a community," Oelkers said.
To keep track of the places you find Waldo, you'll need to pick up a Find Waldo passport, and you can get that at the Red Balloon Bookshop on Grand Avenue.
