Police: Suspect In Bomb Threats Wanted Revenge On Ex
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The man who was taken into custody in connection to multiple bomb threat hoaxes in St. Cloud on Saturday says he was taking revenge on his ex-girlfriend.
The St. Cloud Police Department says 31-year-old Matthew John Hull was arrested Sunday morning in the Princeton area.
Bomb threats were called in to a library and a retail store in St. Cloud on Saturday, and both locations were evacuated.
The first threat was phoned to the Great River Regional Library at about 12:30 p.m. The staff evacuated the building, but police and the St. Cloud Fire Department did not find anything suspicious inside.
The second threat was made about 30 minutes later to the Cash Wise on the 1000 block of 4th Street Southeast. Police and firefighters also did not find anything suspicious during a search.
On Monday, authorities said Hull was in custody at the Stearns County Jail, facing possible charges of making threats of violence, stalking and misdemeanor domestic assault.
Investigators say that Hull would disguise his voice as his ex-girlfriend's when calling in threats. She currently has a restraining order out against Hull.
It's believed he made additional calls to a Walmart and the St. Cloud Hospital.
