Bomb Threat Forces Brainerd YMCA Evacuation
BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) -- The Brainerd Family YMCA was evacuated and evening activities canceled after a threatening message was discovered on a changing room wall.
The Brainerd Dispatch reports dozens of children -- some wearing only swimsuits or shorts -- were forced out into the cold Wednesday while police made an initial assessment of the building.
After a few minutes children wearing only swimsuits were let into a child-care room to stay warm while staff and parents arranged transportation to the Brainerd school district's central office a block away.
Police say the message referred to a bomb and was written on the wall. A search of the building uncovered no suspicious devices.
The YMCA decided to cancel activities for the rest of the evening.
