2 Dead, 5 Hurt Following Boat Crash On Mississippi River
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say two people are dead and five others were injured following a Saturday evening boat crash on the Mississippi River.
The Houston County Sheriff's Office says the single-boat crash happened around 6:15 p.m. on the Wisconsin side of the river, across from the Wildcat Park and Marina near Brownsville.
Seven people were on board the boat when the accident happened. One woman was killed, another person went missing and five people were brought to a hospital with injuries. The Houston County Sheriff's Office said that the body of the missing person, identified as 47-year-old Kevin Lee Hanson of Mabel, was found and recovered from the water at about 4:27 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy is scheduled to determine his cause of death.
Diana Lynn Klankowski, 56 of Spring Grove, was transported to the shore by a private craft after the accident and pronounced dead Saturday night.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
