Bloomington Woman, 27, Killed In Highway 12 Crash
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 27-year-old Bloomington woman died Monday in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 12 just west of the Twin Cities, authorities say.
Officers with the West Hennepin Public Safety Department were called to the crash at about 7:47 a.m. Monday at 7899 Highway 12 in Independence. Dispatchers said the crash involved serious injuries, and several agencies responded to assist at the scene.
When officers arrived, a 2007 Ford Fusion had been involved in a T-bone collision with a 2001 Cadillac Deville. The woman driving the Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene. A 63-year-old Delano woman driving the Cadillac had suffered moderate to serious injuries that were considered non-life threatening. She was taken the North Memorial Hospital.
Authorities identified the woman killed in the crash as Paige Duncan of Bloomington.
An investigation shows Duncan was heading westbound on Highway 12 in her Ford Fusion when she lost control of the vehicle, slid sideways across the centerline and into the eastbound lane of traffic. The vehicle struck the Cadillac, which was heading eastbound. Authorities say icy road conditions played a role in the crash.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by the West Hennepin Public Safety Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
