Bloomington Student Wins National Chess Tournament
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) – A seventh-grader from Bloomington brought home some hefty hardware after winning a big title in Florida last month.
David Floeder, a student at Olson Middle School in Bloomington, won the National K-12 U.S. Chess Federation Championship in Orlanda, Fla., last month. The tournament featured nearly 2,000 players from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
Floeder now advances and will represent the U.S. at the World Youth Chess Championships in August in the United Arab Emirate.
