Bloomington police arrest man who led police on a pursuit after hit and run
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Police have arrested a 32-year-old man after he collided with two parked cars before leading police on a pursuit.
Just before 2 p.m. Thursday police responded to the 9700 block of Penn Avenue S for a hit and run. When officers arrived, they found a suspect car leaving the scene and tried to stop it.
The car fled from police and led to a short pursuit. Officers then terminated the pursuit near 98th Street and 35W.
Officers were then notified the same car was on 494 exiting at Penn Avenue and had attempted to run other cars off the road. Officers tried again to stop the car, but the driver fled a second time.
Officials were able to locate the car through the use of MNDOT traffic cameras. Officers eventually able to stop the car on 35W at 106th Street using stop sticks and the PIT maneuver.
The driver of the car refused to follow instructions and exit his car. Eventually police deployed chemical agents and the man came out of his car.
The man is currently being held in the Bloomington Jail.
