Bloomington Man Pleads Guilty To Escaping Duluth Prison
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 67-year-old Bloomington man has pleaded guilty to escaping from the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth in March 2013, the United States Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.
On Tuesday in federal court, Gerald James Greenwald specifically pleaded guilty to one count of escape from custody. He was charged on April 29, 2013.
In his plea agreement, Greenwald admitted to on March 30, 2013, he was present for prisoner count at 4 p.m., but was not present for the count at 10 p.m.
Greenwald was arrested six days later at a Burnsville motel.
At the time of his escape, Greenwald was serving a 50-month sentence for a 2012 conviction for conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Now, Greenwald faces a potential maximum penalty of five years in prison, which could be added to his current sentence. His sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.
