Bite of Minnesota: Treats From Swedish Crown Bakery
Disclosure: Items were received free of charge.
Wouldn't it be glorious to have treats delivered to you all of the time?
Imagine my excitement when I got a text from the WCCO offices saying I had an edible package from Swedish Crown Bakery. Since I don't physically work at the WCCO offices, a plan was quickly put in place to transfer the goods to me through a series of handoffs. It's times like these when it pays to have a good friend network!
Have you been to Swedish Crown Bakery in Anoka? I'm embarrassed to say that I have never been, but that might have to change after trying these delicious treats.
Amazed at the assortment I received, cute little cards told me about each item and its ingredients from the Beehive to the Lavender Dream Cookies (both best sellers at the bakery).
Immediately I dug into the Vanilla Rose.
Not only did it smell beautifully of vanilla and cardamom, but the dough was tender and lightly sweet all the way down to the inside layer.
For me, it rivals the American Teacake at A Baker's Wife in its unassuming outward nature yet pure blissful flavor.
Although I could have inhaled every single one of these, I shared the rest with co-workers who whole-heartedly agreed with my assessment of awesomeness.
Another favorite was the Love Square, a rich chocolate brownie topped with caramelized organic coconut, reminiscent of a caramel brownie. My husband nabbed one for his lunch while I shared the others with a couple of friends. Based on the number of satisfied groans the Love Square received, I can "crown" it a favorite as well.
Looks like I'll have to make a trip to Anoka to get my fix of co-owner Eva Sabet's baked goods. Have you been to Swedish Crown Bakery? Any favorites that I should try? Comment below!
